Elena Kincaid — Erotica Writer on the Rise

ek pic

Elena was born in the Ukraine and raised in New York where she currently lives with her daughter. She graduated college with a BFA in creative writing and started a graphic design business a few years later. She developed a passion for reading and writing at an early age and loves to write what she loves to read — that’s romance with a paranormal twist. Her desk is constantly cluttered with journals, sticky notes, and torn out pieces of paper full of ideas. When not working, Elena loves to spend time with her family, travel the globe, curl up with a good book, and catch up on her soaps.
Elena will also be a featured author at the Facebook Summer Erotica Event –the SINsational Sirens Showcase running from August 5th to the 9th.

Now, Without Further Ado, Here’s MY Interview with Elena!
When did you know you wanted to write erotic romance?
I’ve always known that I wanted an element of romance in my books. Those are usually my favorite types to read, be it in classics, paranormals, ya, or adult, etc, but I decided to try my hand with the erotic a few years ago and got my first published book, Three Made in Heaven, out of it. One of the scenes in the book actually came from a dream I had and even though it wasn’t one of those dreams, I was aware that something hot had recently happened between my characters. I just had so much fun writing this book and was surprised how easily and naturally writing the love scenes came to me.
Have you always been a sexual person, or grew that way later in life?
I think I have always been. Sex is beautiful, wonderful, messy, sweet, dirty…throw in people who care about each other and it’s magical.
Who’s your Favorite character from your novels, why, and from what book?
This is a tough question to answer. I am not sure I could pick a favorite because I get so attached to all of them, but I will say that in UNSHATTERED, my hero’s dad became so endearing to me as the story progressed. I had no idea he would have such an impact on me or my heroine even as I was plotting this story. You don’t always spend a lot of time thinking about secondary characters when you first get an idea or during the initial plotting, so this was pleasantly surprising and added so much more to the story I think.
Have you learned anything about yourself since you’ve been writing?
Absolutely! For one, I’ve learned to have more confidence in myself and my ability as a writer. It’s not just a lifelong dream anymore, I am actually doing what I love and have always wanted to do.
What’s your short and long term goals as a writer?
My short term goals are to finish the plethora of projects I have plotted. ;) There is so much in my head right now, it needs to come out.
Long term is more of the same, to keep coming up with and writing stories, hopefully ones people will want to read. And also to improve my craft as a writer. I think that’s so important.
What’s your WIP / next release?
My next release is called Pack Warriors, A Romance on the Go story from Evernight Publishing and is scheduled for release sometime this August. It’s an MFM Wolf-Shifter ménage. Lot’s of lovin’ and fighting and of course more lovin’. Super excited for its release.
My WIP is book two in the Made in Heaven series called Ocean’s Three, an MFM erotic paranormal ménage romance that takes place on a cruise ship. Ocean’s Three incorporates the same soul mate and psychic elements as the first book, but delves deeper into it. I am a little more than halfway done with this one. I have a few stories outlined and ready to go after, including three books so far in a brand new series about dragon shifters. It’s going to be super hot, in more ways than one, and yes, pun intended because I am just that cheesy.
Name something that gets you in the mood and elaborate – if possible.
You mean besides watching Sam Heughan in Outlander and a shirtless Ryan Paevey on General hospital? Chocolate. Bring me chocolate. Oh and coffee. Coffee and chocolate are the ways to my heart…and other parts of me.
Thanks for an Awesome Interview, Elena !  Now, let’s have a Peek at your Available Novels ~~~~~

GUEST BLOGGER MISTRAL DAWN COVER REVEAL

Please Welcome my guest blogger, Mistral Dawn and the cover reveal for her soon to be released INTRIGUE IN THE SUMMER COURT

Hey Everyone!!! :-)

I revealed the title at my Facebook party last Saturday, but have you been wondering what the cover of Intrigue In The Summer Court would look like?  Well, here it is!!!! :-)  Julie Nichols is the talented artist who created it, and I, for one, think she did a totally awesome job!!!! :-)  If you're interested in seeing more of her work, you can find her here:

Her prices are very reasonable.  For ebook covers that the author provides the stock photos for and just need her to manipulate the photos and paint over small parts, she only charges $20!  To include a wrap-around cover that can be used for a paperback, she charges $30.  And for custom-painted covers (like the one above) she charges $100, and as you can see they are well worth the price!! :-)

For people just looking for decorations for their home or desk, she is working on a new Amazon store (she says it will be like etsy) where she will be listing her work for sale soon.  In the meantime, you can find her books here: Julie Nichols' Amazon Author Page

Did I mention she's also an amazing novelist?  A woman of many talents!! :-)  The easiest way to contact her for custom artwork is through Facebook. :-)  And besides being wildly talented, she really is a gem! :-)

So...would you like to see the synopsis for Intrigue In The Summer Court???? ;-)  Here it is:

Jillian just knows something bad is going to happen!  She's been a loyal adviser to the throne and friend of the queen, Briallen, for thousands of years, and now Roni and Uaine's wedding and coronation are to take place in just a couple days.  The Summer Court will have a new king and queen, who can hopefully repair the damage and heal the schism the late king created.
But Jillian just can't shake the feeling that trouble is brewing.  Many of the Summer nobles aren't happy about the changes that are taking place in the Summer Court, and many of the other Fae just aren't too sure about having a human on the throne...even if she has been blessed by the goddess.  When Angelica, the leader of the Pixies, comes to her with news of a plot to murder the prince and princess, Jillian's suspicions are confirmed.  Will the two of them be able to unravel this conspiracy in time to save the royal couple?  Or will prejudice prevail, and the hope for peace in Fairie be lost forever?

Huh, sounds pretty dire, what do you think? ;-)  Would you like to read some excerpts?  Check these out! :-)

And don't forget to stay tuned for the release announcement!!!! :-)  Coming Soon! ;-)

Thanks for stopping by!
Mistral

GUEST BLOGGER BETH D.CARTER WITH THE ALPHA GLADIATOR

Please welcome my guest blogger Beth D. Carter and her newest release, THE ALPHA GLADIATOR
Beth:
Okay, I admit it…I fell in love with Spartacus as played by Andy Whitfield in the Starz adaptation.  How horrible that he succumbed to non-Hodgkin lymphoma shortly after wrapping up the first season. During the second season, the producers decided to introduce a new gladiator which, in my opinion, was one hot hunk to watch!  So when the third season came back, with a new lead to play Spartacus, it didn’t seem such a sad departure from Andy.

I became fascinated by the dynamics of the politics behind the gladiator games.  The origin of gladiatorial combat is open to debate. There is evidence of it in funeral rites during the Punic Wars of the 3rd century BC, and thereafter it rapidly became an essential feature of politics and social life in the Roman world. Its popularity led to its use in ever more lavish and costly games. The gladiator games lasted for nearly a thousand years. (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

The Alpha Gladiator was actually written to be part of an anthology, but it came out as too sci-fi, so I switched it to the novella story line, Romance on the Go, for Evernight Publishing.  The Spartacus story might have provided the idea, but I moved everything into a futuristic slash paranormal setting.   The next story I have planned in this line features more of the slave and gladiator dynamics, not quite so paranormal but still within the realms of mystical.  Hopefully that will be written soon, after I wrap up a few other series.

Blurb:

Ravage is the fierce Alpha of his people, the Lycans.  During the mating celebration, while their guards are down, his people are attacked and twelve are captured for the gladiator games of Kappuah, including Aleirah, the woman Ravage wants above all others.

He tries to resist, but he’s unwilling to see his men and his female harmed by the ruthless tyrants of the games.  He must make the ultimate sacrifice of taking lives if he’s to protect his people.

But there is one secret no one knows, and Ravage is more than willing to show how some myths are based in truth, by letting his inner wolf come out to destroy all those who enslaved them.

Excerpt:

“I remember.”  He looked around.  “You are a compassionate woman.  Caring and kind.  You would make me a great mate.”
Her mouth dropped open. “Excuse me?”
“A mate.  I have been waiting for you to enter the mating ceremony for ten years, Aleirah.  Surly you knew that?”
She shook her head.  “No.  I … ah … no.  I don’t think I would make a very good mate for an Alpha.”
“Why would you think that?” he asked, a bit vexed.  Ravage was fast learning she could be a little stubborn.
“I’m…” She paused and cleared her throat.  I just don’t think I would.”
“I beg to differ, and I hope you allow me to change your mind.”  He stepped closer to her and her breath hitched in her throat.  He tilted her face up and her mouth dropped open on a breathless little sigh.  The he offered her his elbow.  “Would you take a walk with me through the night?”
She bit her bottom lip with her top teeth, and the action had an interesting effect on his dick, which jumped to attention.  Ravage could just imagine her sinking her teeth into his shoulder as he thrust into her beautiful body.  Hesitantly, she took his arm and as soon as she touched him, he placed his hand on top of hers, trapping her by his side.  Now that he had her, he wasn’t about to let her get away.
He pulled her away from both bonfires, into the woods, letting the darkness shroud them.  Sometimes it was easier to let go of secrets and fears when the other person was cloaked in shadow.  The night had always been a friend of the Lycanis people, so Ravage used the moon to his advantage.
“I remember you from when we were children,” he murmured.
“I remember you too,” she said softly.
He grinned, pleased with her answer.  She may deny that she wanted to be his mate, but the pheromones coming off her body indicated otherwise.  Aleirah found him desirable.  Whether or not she wanted to be his mate, her body had already begun changing to accept his claiming bite.  Now, he just had to get her to admit it, and he wasn’t above using seduction on his part.

Author Bio and Info:

I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate highrollers.  I try to write characters who aren't cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box.  I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love. I love to hear from readers so I’ve made it really easy to find me on the web:

Amazon author page:

Q&A & Trivia Info:

What’s your favorite thing about being a writer/author?

My favorite thing is breathing life into characters I create. I think about stories, I think about scenarios.  I am constantly working through plots and solving problems.  I work and rework dialogue until it’s perfect.  I build backstory and complete character arcs.  And I absolutely LOVE it.

Why do you write?

I write because I have to.  Some people have a compulsion to exercise eight hours a day training other.  Some people work day and night to save lives.  Some people fight tirelessly for the environment or for animal preservation.  We’re each born with the ability and need to do something and for me that is writing.

Do you read the same genre that you write? Why or why not?

Absolutely!  I started reading romance when I was in the fifth grade and picked up one of my mother’s Harlequin Presents.  Maya Banks introduced me to erotica romance and I never looked back.  But I love books in general.  They are definitely my drug of choice.

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
I have a very dry sense of humor which I put into my books, usually through the comic relief characters (like the best friend).  I usually write about places I’ve lived or been, so my books are set all over the place, including Paris, France where I lived for four months.

The 5 writing pet peeves that simply drive me insane.

1. Homework.  As soon as my son gets home from school, it’s all about homework.  The kid was in third grade and is doing algebra.  Seriously, I pulled my hair out every day.  It’s a wonder I’m not bald.

2. The dog.  I think she’s able to read minds because the moment I’m concentrating and the words are flowing, that’s when she brings her leash, barking for a walk.

3. Facebook.  I spend too much damn time looking at all the funny memes and sexy pictures my fellow authors like to put up.

4. My muse.  I’m hard at work trying to write out a complicated and scene and she’s like “Wait!  I’ve got this awesome idea for another story!” Most of the time she wakes me up at three am.  Bitch.

5. Character changes.  Most of the time I can envision the beginning and ending to a story, but every once in a while the ending slips away, due to the direction of where the characters take me.  When that happens I struggle a lot to maintain the plot.  I’ve shelved some great stories because of this.

Excerpt © Kacey Hammell, 2015
“Hey there. It’s Eric, right?”
He stalled and pivoted. Behind him was the one person he didn’t need to see right now. Melissa had talked about her enough that he knew all he needed to about her. And some shit he hadn’t cared to.
“Ms. Wilson. Hope you’re enjoying our little town here.”
She leaned against the wall of Abe’s Diner. “Little? This place is huge. I did enjoy some shopping this morning. The market a couple blocks over has some of the nicest things. I spent way more than I should.”
He bet she did. From what she’d shown at the bar yesterday, she had more money than she really knew what to do with. In his opinion, she’d earned it all by letting it all hang out in fashion magazines for the world to see. Wearing skimpy outfits and bathing suits, which to him was too much to be taken seriously. She had the looks for sure, but he questioned her morals.
“Well, I have to get back to the bar. Nice seeing you.”
“Oh, you couldn’t spare a few minutes to have coffee with me? There are a few things I’d love to talk to you about.” She sidled closer to him, a smile lighting her face, her eyes twinkling like stars in the evening sky.
He bet she was used to getting her way all the time.
She brushed a hand over his bicep. “Just a quick coffee, and maybe a bite to eat?”
The heat from her palm rushed through him. His fingers tingled and the urge to feel her warmth around him caught him off guard. He took a step back and shook his head. Damn her for getting to him. He needed to steer clear. She would do anything to take his sister away from here, even use her wiles to do it; he’d seen her flirting with Drew yesterday.
“Sorry, I don’t have time to entertain you. You’ll have to find someone else to keep you occupied, Ms. Wilson. Have a good day.”
Eric turned and strode away. He needed to keep a watchful eye on his sister and find a way to dig himself out of the hole he was in.
Neither would be easy, though.
Not with the distraction of Candy Wilson around to battle with.

EXCERPT

She still had to face the things that caused her fear, and as much as Shadow made her feel safe, she couldn’t quite let go of the responsibility of taking care of herself. She couldn’t in good conscience give him any hope when she had no idea what she faced in the next few days. That kind of trust required more than she was ready to give just yet. Still, resisting the temptation to give in to their attraction was becoming more and more difficult.
“I know you’ll do everything you can to protect my life, and if I survive this mission, we can talk about my heart,” she said, resting her head on his chest.
“You’ll survive,” he said. “I’ve already saved you twice. I’ll do it as many times as I need to.”
“As I recall, the last time it was a team effort,” Holly teased. “If I hadn’t shifted form, you wouldn’t have been able to carry me away.”
She heard his laugh rumble in his chest. “Very true. That just proves what a good team we are.” He pushed her back just a little to look her in the eyes, “And as I recall,” he said, a wicked grin spreading slowly across his lips, “the last time I saved you, you wore nothing but a smile. Is that going to be a habit?”
“You wish. What does that have to do with anything anyway?”
Still holding her close, he traced the line of her dress, down one shoulder, across the valley between her breasts, and back up again, making her shiver.
“Nothing. I was just thinking how impressive it was.”

Guest Blogger: Chandler Adams HER SAVAGE HEART

Please welcome my guest blogger today, Chandler Adams and her new release,HER SAVAGE HEART.

Blurb:

Margaret knew that staying on the claim alone was not going to be easy, however, her father needed her to stay behind and take care of the homestead while he made the arduous trip back to the city to replenish their supplies. While collecting water at the nearby creek, Margaret is forcefully abducted by a savage. Only after freeing herself and eventually helping her abductor does Margaret learn that the savage, Avonaco, had actually had saved her from a certain death.
It is only through the course of time that Margaret learns about the tragedy that has befallen the Indian and his tribe, and she finds herself becoming attracted to him. She also finds that she was willing to defy territorial law in order to be with him. Margaret realizes she loves the Indian and asks him to stay with her forever.

STORY EXCERPT

Margaret was dumbfounded. At first, it did not register that someone had grabbed her. She almost believed that she had lost her balance and was falling into the creek. However, the deafening pounding of the hooves, the unmerciful grip on her waist, and the heavy bucket pulling on her hand told her otherwise. Instinctively, she tried to turn her head to see her captor. However, her long, thick hair that served as her modesty protector also served an obstruction to her view. When she looked down at the bare, sinewy leg, in dark contrast to her own alabaster skin, she knew. She knew.
She started to panic. As if sensing that she was about to scream, her captor placed a large, calloused hand over her mouth. Though she was terrified beyond all reason, she marveled at this savage’s ability to hold her mid-air next to him with one hand and cover her mouth with the other. Margaret caught herself wondering how he was able to communicate with the horse.
Margaret’s mind was racing. She did not know what this savage wanted with her. However, she had heard all the horror stories while she was working in her grandfather’s store. She had heard stories of thievery, destruction, and slaughter. These possibilities did not worry her. She reasoned that if this savage wanted to slaughter her, he could have easily done so as she was getting the water from the creek. There was no one around to stop him. No, she told herself, the reason had to be something more sinister, something that was not discussed in the company of a lady. This realization prompted her to begin to struggle even harder to get away.
The bucket would be of no use to her, so she let it drop from her grasp. The newfound freedom in her arm was short-lived. Her captor deftly swung her face down across his lap. She became keenly aware of the small piece of cloth worn by her captor. As her waist moved up and down with the rhythmic gallop of the horse, she felt his strong hands holding her in place. Had she not feared the outcome of this ride, she would have been angry at the indignity of her predicament. However, as frightened as she was, she had decided that she would not go without a fight. That is something she had learned from her father. You must be willing to fight for what is important to you.
The thought of her father spurred her into a fervor. Her mind hurriedly turned to escape. How could she loose the iron-like grasp this savage had on her? She saw her opportunity in the shape of his muscular, brown calf. She noticed how starkly it compared to the white of the horse they were riding. His skin reminded her of the color of tanned leather. She knew that Indians were naturally dark skinned. However, she also knew that every inch of her captor’s skin had been exposed to the sun since the day he was born.
With her target in sight, she leaned toward his calf and bit it as hard as she could. She felt the muscles of the calf tense with the assault, and she heard a loud scream. The satisfaction she received from knowing she had inflicted pain prompted her to bite harder. The sound of the savage’s cries of agony were the fuel to the fire that Margaret needed to intensify her assault. She dug her teeth in deeper. She could taste blood, but she did not care. She was determined to make it out of this situation alive and with as much of her modesty in place as possible.
Images of her father kept running through her mind. She knew that if anything happened to her, her father would blame himself. She knew that she was the main reason he was still alive after her mother had died. He lived for her. An assault on her was an assault on her father, too. This thought provoked her even further. She could not stand the thought of anything hurting her beloved Dada. She could hear him encouraging her to survive, “Fight, Maggie me love! Give ’em hell!” She was determined to do just that. She was going to “give ’em hell,” or she was going to die trying. She was prepared to fight to the bitter end. However, what she was not prepared for was to have the savage unceremoniously shove her from her perch on his lap to the unforgiving ground below. Winded from the impact, Margaret was taken aback by the savage’s response to her attack. In fact, it took her a moment to realize that she was free. Every muscle in her body ached. Her head, which had taken quite a bit of the impact, throbbed. However, she was relieved to be free.

Margaret pressed her palms onto the table to gain leverage so that she could match his movement, moving her hips back and forth, arching her back, and matching his rhythm. This obviously pleased him as he began to move harder and faster. He started slamming into her with such vigor that the dishes started falling on the floor. This instilled into Margaret a reckless abandon. She began moving against him faster and faster, moaning with sheer pleasure. She had never felt such reckless abandon, and she felt the need to give him as much pleasure as he was giving her.
Margaret’s legs were shaking out of control, and she found herself screaming the words, “More! More! Oh, please, more!” This obviously pleased Avonaco because he eagerly acquiesced.
“Yes! Hehpėstoha!” Avonaco called out.
Margaret had never felt such pleasure as she was experiencing at that moment. The moment that Avonaco climaxed was like an explosion. He cried out in a deep, primal cry that intrigued Margaret and helped her reach her own climax. He collapsed on top of her, sweating and out of breath. Margaret thrilled at having his bare skin touching hers, feeling his heartbeat on her back, feeling his breath on the back of her neck. It was the most exhilarating thing she had ever experienced. She could think of no other place she would rather be than right here with this man.
Avonaco slowly lifted himself off of her, and he gently pulled her off of the table and scooped her up in his arms. He carried her into her father’s room and gently laid her on the bed. He lay down beside her and pulled her head over onto his chest. She marveled at how gentle he was with her. She had heard the stories about how brutal and savage Indians were, and she had even shamefacedly believed all Indians to be savages, less than human, and incapable of human feelings or emotions. She realized how very wrong she had been. This beautiful, gentle man was no savage.
